What Hill Are You Dying On?
Posted 1 month ago - Nov 15, 2024
From: RaJan MonroeIt would be a shame to climb the wrong mountain.
The election is over. Votes are counted. How you doing? *Joey voice*
Whether your candidate won or lost, that's a loaded question, yet valid given the fact that this political season was one of the toughest we've seen. Isn't that what we said last election? And the one before that? The condition of our country when it comes to laws, regulations, taxes, and plans is rocky ground, but stances will and must be taken. If these are the "hills" we die on... how do we live?
I've never climbed a mountain, but I imagine there's no paved road with an escalator attached. It's difficult. But those who have reached the summit declare it is worth the journey for the beauty and peace at the top.
We all want peace, but which mountains are we climbing to seek it? Are we clawing our way to the top of "Mount Government"? Or maybe it's climbing "Success Peaks"? Or is it the "Significant Other Mountain"? Where are we finding peace? These hills are important, but none compare to the true pinnacle of peace found in Jesus.
Jesus informs us that peace did not come from the world. Are we seeking peace outside of Jesus? Remember these words:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27 NLT)
Faith over fear. God over all. Your identity is deeper and beyond your party affiliation. Walking in love and following His way, while trusting God's sovereignty will bring the true, lasting peace found only in Christ.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by politics and arguing you can request prayer or pray for others on our prayer wall HERE.
