Overcoming Worry & Anxiety?

Whether you're going back to school, starting a new job or just trying to get through the day- worry and anxiety can be crippling. Anxiety has a way to draw you in and send you spiraling into fear, powerlessness and loneliness. Rachel Moreland broke it down like this, "For much of my twenties, I ascribed to the belief that I had little control over my thought life; and therefore, I was often a hostage to my own mind. A captive to my own intrusive, negative thought patterns. My thoughts dictated my feelings which in turn set my mood for that day. This vicious cycle left me feeling incapable and exhausted – both physically and emotionally." Does this sound familiar? In her article, 2 Life-Changing Secrets to Overcoming Worry, she discovered two ways that completely changed her thought-life. She learned how to live beyond how she felt and realized that you cannot both pray and worry at the same time. Easier said than done, right? But, as you begin to understand that "your feelings don't have to have the power" or even "determine the path you take" you begin to experience freedom from anxiety. More importantly than giving your feelings their proper authority, replacing worry with prayer is life changing "because one negates the other." When we begin to practice prayer, we are not only saying we surrender our worry and anxiety to Jesus but we are actually living it out and trusting God. When we replace worry with prayer, we are saying, "I trust God to be God" rather than saying "I don't think God will come through." Worry and anxiety can have a huge impact on your life but Jesus is more. He is more than your fear, anxiety, loneliness, depression and confusion. Pursue Jesus, fight for Joy and surround yourself with people who point you to truth. Be sure to read Rachel's article here.
