What is your ONE WORD for 2018?
Posted 1 year ago - Apr 30, 2024
From: Admin UserHave you heard of #MyOneWord? Instead of making New Year Resolutions, you pick ONE WORD that will be your main focus for 2018. Here are some tips to help you pick the best word yet!
Step 1: Determine the kind of person you want to be at the end of 2018.
Let’s be honest. I think we all want to do some of the traditional resolutions: lose weight or stay healthy. Eat better. Save more money. Start a new business/job/hobby. Save or fix a relationship. Or leave a bad one. Cross some fun stuff off your bucket list.
Those things can all be GREAT! But the challenge with picking one word is that you can still set all those goals and accomplish them, while you FOCUS on the one word that will help you become the person you ideally want to be. You can take it a step further and ask:
What one word will help me become the person GOD created me to be?
Step 2: Identify the characteristics of that person.
If we want to get healthy or save money, that person probably needs to be disciplined. Driven. Determined. Those are great words! Maybe you need to show yourself and your loved ones more grace. Maybe you’re stressed and need room to breathe. You want to be a more peaceful person. You want your home to be filled with love and not arguments.
Think about the person you want to become (make a vision board, if you want!) And then make a list of the characteristics that resonate with you. I personally like to pray and ask God to guide me as I think about those characteristics. At the end of the day, I know HE knows which word should be my word for 2018! God knows the best word for you, too!
Step 3: Pick your word!
This part can be hard! I always feel like I could come up with a BUNCH of words and things I want to improve, change, do better, etc… in the new year. But when we focus on ONE WORD, it helps other things fall into place. It’s the concept of the “big rocks”. When you prioritize the Big Rocks or important things in your life (your relationship with God, your family, etc…), the “little rocks” (other less important things) somehow fall into place.
Now it’s YOUR Turn! Think about it and pick your word. Email me Coppelia@NGENRadio.com. I’d love to see what awesome words our NGEN fam pick! And I pray that God will use that one word in your life to accomplish His perfect will for YOU! He loves you and has plans to prosper and not harm you, to give you a future and a hope! You can read more about the 3 steps on the website that started it all: MyOneWord.org.
Now, let me be the 1st to say Happy New Year 2018! May God bless all of us with the best one yet!
