Have you ever met a person with the exact same sense of humor as you?

From: Admin UserFor me, this is a particularly difficult task.
I'm absolute weirdo. My sense of humor falls somewhere in between the TV show "Scream Queens" and your average Internet meme. It's a rare moment when I find that one person who laughs at the same time as I do about something ridiculous.
But when it happens - it's like a chorus of angels start singing. Because in that moment, in those fleeting seconds, I feel known.
I feel like someone understands me.
I feel misunderstood a lot. I have just enough sides to be a polygon, too many sides to be a square. I confuse people. Do you ever feel like that?
I think we all do sometimes. We could drive ourselves crazy trying to figure out who likes us or why someone doesn't.
Every human alive desires, desperately, to be completely known by others. At the same time, we all want to be completely loved. Known, in all our evil and good, all our success and failure. And loved regardless.
We can get close to this , I think. Our human spouses, our human best friends that feel closer than siblings. These are glimpses at the divine.
But only God can both know and love us perfectly.
Psalm 139:1-2 says "O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thoughts from afar."
When I get lost in thinking "No one understands me. No one knows me," I have to dismiss those thoughts as lies. Because it's simply untrue that no one knows me. God knows me perfectly and somehow loves me still. And this is a massive comfort, because it means I'm never too strange, never too foreign, to be known by the Creator of the Universe.
Britt Nicole's song "Through Your Eyes" makes me emotional for this reason. The lyrics say: "You brought to life the part of me I thought had died / You stood right there until I saw me through your eyes." That part of you that is so uniquely YOU that you've stuffed it down deep inside you, because it's been wounded before - God sees that, in all its splendor, and He restores it.
He has x-ray vision. He sees straight to your soul. It can't be a pretty picture, but somehow he loves anyway. Completely known. Completely loved. That's who you are.
Claim it.
