Through the years, you’ve probably heard it all: “Do your best, honey” on your first day of Kindergarten. “Be nice to the teacher!” on your first day of third grade. “Don’t get in trouble” on the first day of middle school. And “EVERYTHING YOU DO COUNTS FOR COLLEGE” on the first day of high school.
We know you’ve probably heard tons of advice when it comes to going back to school. But your NGEN fam wants you to succeed AND have fun! So we asked some of the NGEN DJs what was the BEST Back to School advice they ever got.
Here’s what they shared:
Ayana (From Mack & Manny in the Morning, 6am - 10am)Spend the big bucks where it counts, buy a good back pack that can last until college. If back to school supplies hurt the budget, maybe try to buy in bulk with other parents.Try buying what's needed throughout the year instead of trying to get it all done at once.Thank God for Tax free weekend, take advantage....not all states have it.And last but not least there's never waiting when you check out online. If you don't want to deal with all the hustle and bustle in stores, This is a great opportunity to test out the drive up/pick up service your favorite store provides or even even better - make sure everything is loaded in your cart online and check out on tax free day. | |
Coppelia (from the NGEN Midday Show, 10am - 3pm)
Literally the BEST advice I ever got was to PRAY! My mom always made back to school prayer a priority – for the school, the teachers, our friends, and the friends she hoped we’d stay away from (lol)! We changed schools quite a bit, faced financial difficulties some years and honestly, in spite of it all, I can look back and see how God answered our prayers! |

Angela (from Afternoons with Chris Chicago and Lil Ang, 3pm - 7pm)
My “back to school” advice would be namely to go into the first day open-hearted. Be willing to talk to anyone and everyone, because anyone could be your friend. If you go in with an open mind to learn and to connect with people, you could walk out with a best friend. |
Even if you’re not going back to school, feel free to share these tips with someone you love! We hope they encourage you and help you have the BEST YEAR EVER!
Love,
Coppelia & your NGEN fam!
