In the most unexpected duet of the year, Steven Malcolm has teamed up with Natalie Grant on a new song entitled "Even Louder." He wrote on Twitter, "This joint wasn’t planned, nor done for any selfish motive. Just 2 people loving Jesus, loving music, and seeing an opportunity to do something DIFFERENT!"
Steven and Natalie were on the Bible Tour together when Natalie first heard Steven perform.
When it comes to their genre-bending collaboration, she says, “I love Christian music because it has so many different styles that appeal to so many different people, but we draw these hard and fast lines between music genres. The thing that combines us and makes us unified is that we are all sharing the message of Christ. We need to start being a reflection of that unity and a way to do that is to blur the lines between our styles and I think it is a beautiful reflection of what the Body of Christ is supposed to be.”
The song was originally co-written with Leeland as a cry of worship. The song's message, Steven says, is that our praise should grow "even louder" as we go through the hard times in life. Our praise becomes a cry for God to intervene.
Malcolm continues, “I wrote it with the mentality of, ‘if people take everything away until I’m left with nothing, what will our response be? Will it be to curse God or will we lift our voices to Him and begin to worship louder than ever before?”
