Sometimes God opens surprising doors for you. That happened a few months ago for me. A radio station in Orlando, Florida was looking for a radio personality who could speak English and Spanish in an area that has a growing Puerto Rican population. (Um, I’m a bilingual Puerto Rican!) Plus, my sister and her family live in Orlando! And, also, Disney! lol
Could this be God letting me know he had a new assignment for me? I had to find out. So my hubby and I prayed and we flew to Florida for the interview.
Since here at NGEN Radio we like to keep it real, I’m keeping it 100 with you: I sat on my couch with the invitation to apply for that job, STUNNED. I was not looking for a job. I did not send out resumes or tell friends that I’m “looking for the next opportunity.” NOPE. Nothing.
Guys, I LOVE NGEN RADIO! LOL! If you know me at all, you know how much I love our NGEN fam, the music we play and what God is doing through NGEN.
But I believe that if God opens a door, or He presents you with an opportunity, you have to at least think about it, pray about it, ask for godly counsel from people you trust and see what it’s all about.
In 2005, God opened a door for my hubby and I to move from Puerto Rico to California for a dream radio job. We prayed, God provided, and we went. It was AMAZING!
In 2008 and 2012, I *almost* took a radio job in Charlotte, NC. TWICE! Both times, we prayed, sought counsel and the answer was “No.” Looking back now, I can see that was the right answer.
In 2011, God opened a door for our family to come from Sacramento, California to H-Town for another radio job at NGEN’s sister KSBJ! We prayed, God provided, and here we are!
And I’ll never forget when I did my first show on NGEN – it felt like “home.” That was before the big signal launch of 91.7, and before I joined the NGEN fam full time. I knew there was something special here at NGEN and there still is, which makes this goodbye extra difficult!
You never know when God will call you to a new assignment and a new adventure. But when He does, it’s always worth it. It’s worth the tears and goodbyes. It’s worth the changes that grow your faith. It’s worth taking a step out of the boat. If Peter hadn’t taken that step, he wouldn’t have walked on water when Jesus called him.
If He calls you, go.
Our family feels like God is calling us. But we’re gonna miss you guys more than you know!
I know God has great plans in store for our family and for the NGEN fam … we just haven’t seen it yet!
Love, Coppelia
