It's hard to talk to our friends who don't follow God about God. It just is.
Our friends can have frustration and baggage with faith. They simply may not want to talk about it. Conversations about faith (or lack thereof) are difficult because faith is difficult.
There are many reasons why someone may disbelieve or be disinterested in God. It requires sensitivity and a listening ear to have conversations about something held as dearly as faith.
Erica Campbell, a Gospel artist and pastor, was recently recruited by Buzzfeed to be a part of a video entitled "People Tell a Pastor Why They Don't Believe in God."
She sits in a room and talks to three different individuals about their stories. She shares her own. They listen to each other, discuss their different perspectives, and eventually depart. While no one is converted, the conversation lends both parties to respect each other a little more (or at least, that's what the video leads us to believe.)
Erica both handles herself well and represents God well in her respect and love for each individual she talks with. There's an important lesson to be learned in this video: it's important to talk to our friends about our faith. It's important that they know where we stand about God, that our faith matters to us and that we believe what's true about Scripture. But it's important that we listen to them, too. Friendship is mutual, and so are conversations about faith. Check out the video here:
