On March 8th, his 42nd birthday, Tedashii dropped his first full-length project since 2014, entitled "Never Fold." It was well worth the wait; Never Fold is a massive record that spans 17 tracks and features everyone from Lecrae to Jordan Feliz. There are some songs we're familiar with (Gotta Live, Smile) while others are brand new (Get Out My Way, Step Into Love, Splash II.) A lot of things have changed for Tedashii. He's still grieving the loss of his son Chase, but now he's triumphant. He's in his lane on these songs, which feel considerably tough, a mood that suits T-Dot's deep voice.
Tedashii has continually shouted out to his hometown of Houston in his music, so it's no surprise that Never Fold is riddled with references to H-Town. Here's all the times he mentions Houston and Texas on the project:
Son of Sam
"1-45 to my cousin's house for that purple haze and that purple Sprite"
Splash II (1kPhew)
"I'm in the field in Houston, me and Tedashii, call us the Astros, ayy"
"Making a splash, Minute Maid"
Water
"Slow it down, H-Town / Sprinkle in a lil spice"
"Texas strong, yeah we made it through the flood"
"H-Town when I ride, yeah e'rybody know it"
"Rockin' with that boy comin' out the State of T / That's the state known as Texas"
Diamonds
"Tryna kick it like a Rockette / I'm a Rocket like I'm Harden"
My Lifestyle
"Call me young T dot, rose from the street block / H-Town, ride slo mo"
"Rollin' out with Trip like it's Texas"
Hold Me Down
"I do this for my family on the island and in Texas"
There are at least 10 separate references to Texas and specifically Houston on Never Fold. Tedashii calls both Atlanta and Houston home, but if we had to pick one, we'd say his loyalty is to H-Town.
